``Lists'' are one-way information broadcasts. ``Forums'' are interactive, on-line discussions.
MDOP is owned and moderated by Jimbo Wales jwales@iubvm.ucs.indiana.edu. The moderation ensures polite, high-quality articles relevant to Objectivism and the topic currently being discussed. Recent participants include: Nathaniel Branden, Robert Bidinotto, David Kelley, Ron Merrill, Chris Sciabarra, Douglas Rasmussen, James Lennox, Eyal Mozes, David Ross, Stephen R L Clark, and George Mavrodes.
There are three different subscription levels: AYN-RAND, AYN-TECH, and AYN-REVU. AYN-RAND is the basic list, where the majority of the discussion occurs; volume is about 6 posts per day. AYN-TECH is a list focussed on the more technical issues of Objectivism, and generally works through books chapter by chapter. AYN-REVU is a low volume subset of the two other lists with 1-3 posts per week on book reviews, announcements, and major essays from the other lists. There are over 430 members to these three lists, and membership is growing fast!
Jimbo Wales' policy is the following: ``Every person on MDOP speaks for him/herself alone. I often publish articles with which I disagree, because I think that getting the issues out in the open, in a full-fledged serious discussion, is the most helpful tool that an e-mail list can provide to people who want to learn.''
To subscribe, send e-mail to listserv@iubvm.ucs.indiana.edu with the command in the body (substituting 'TECH' or 'REVU' for 'RAND' as necessary): Subscribe AYN-RAND Your Full Name

Vixie states: ``This mailing list is open to discussion of any aspect of Objectivism, including its application to current events, and activities of the ARI and IOS.'' The discussions on this list are often less formal and technical than those on MDOP. There are currently over 260 subscribers and volume is up to 4 posts a day. The list is not affiliated with ARI nor IOS.

So long as you leave that on, do with the articles what you like.) Don't be shy----tell your friends about the CEI list. In May we started the Laissez Faire Book News List for people who have internet e-mail. List members see new book reviews as soon as they are available. About once a week I send out information on a new or newly available title that will be appearing in our forthcoming print catalog.

Libernet is intended to be a forum for high-quality, real-world oriented presentation of information of interest to classical liberals, libertarians, objectivists, and anyone else interested in applying the philosophy of liberty to the problems of our day. It is also intended for the rapid dissemination of news items that friends of liberty might be interested in. Libernet is actually split into two parts, libernet, a list for distributing news and information, and libernet-d, a forum for interactive discussion.
Both libernet and libernet-d are available in two subscription modes: batch mode and reflective mode. Reflective mode subscribers receive individual messages as they are posted. Batch mode subscribers receive one message every day consisting of all the posting since the last batch.
